Well it did not take long to spend almost two years of back pay.
I started out lusting after a new Apple Power book with all the trimmings, after thinking about that I though maybe a car should be at the top of my list while I have money in a big pile (big for a poor boy like me). So I lusted after a Mazda Miata after many pleasant thoughts about how much I would enjoy turing in a Miata the numbers started to sink in; if I financed part of the 26k, the Miata, that I wanted would cost; payments and insurance would eat enough of my income; there would be no money left over to do any traveling. Getting the wife to pack light enough would be tuff, and camping would be all but out, do to lack of cargo space. Doing without is not fun when you are on the road. Doing without and having to stay home when I am still healthy enough to travel and do some things would really suck.
So re-thinking the car deal, coast to coast road trips (with camping) are going to take more room than the Miata offered, then the killer $170 a month insurance just did not make since. It dawned on me that I could trade off the Mitsubishi, that I planed to keep and get another truck, save big time on insurance and save some on the purchase price.
After looking at all the pick up trucks, the Nissan looked like the best deal for me. I have a lot of good experience with the engine that comes in the Frontier from working on fork lifts that come with that engine; several service and delivery trucks also with that engine and transmission combination; I know that the Nissan is going to run trouble free for mega miles.
